Dear Colleagues,

The Neuropathic Pain Special Interest Group has chosen a wonderful venue for this exciting congress. As the chairman of the local organizing committee I am very glad to welcome you to Madrid, Spain's capital city, where you can enjoy science, culture, entertainment and even great sports during the International Congress on the Study of Neuropathic Pain in Madrid, Spain (May 13-16, 2004).

Madrid is located at the geographic center of the Iberian Peninsula and gets its warm dry summers and cool winters from its central location and high altitude. Madrid is a city of great monuments, including its historic city centre, dating back to the Habsburg Empire and the world-renowned Prado Museum. Madrid is not just a cultural destination; it is also a lively and sophisticated city offering a vast range of pubs, cafes, fine restaurants and clubs open late into the night.

What more? The locals used to say: "From Madrid to Heaven ...", so nothing else needs to be said about one of the finest capital cities of Europe. Make Madrid your base to see more of the many wonders of Spain, but above all join us at our meeting in 2004 for the latest advances on basic science and clinical research in neuropathic pain. The organisers have guaranteed that we will be educated by a cultural and scientific elite in this very enchanting location.

look forward to seeing you in Madrid!

Best regards,

Pedro F. Bejarano, MDPedro F. Bejarano, MD
