NeuPSIG Bursaries for Trainees
Bursary submission is now closed
Since its inception, NeuPSIG has provided financial support for trainees and more recently physicians from developing countries to participate in NeuPSIG scientific meetings. The NeuPSIG Management Committee Meeting (held as part of the Second International Congress on Neuropathic Pain in Berlin, June 2007) reviewed the level of support that we would provide for trainees to attend the NeuPSIG sponsored Satellite to the Glasgow 2008 World Congress on Pain to be held in London (13th-15th of August 2008). The Second International Congress on Neuropathic Pain in Berlin was an outstanding success and attracted approximately 1600 delegates. Our travel grant schemes enabled approximately 30 young scientists and clinicians from developing countries from diverse geographical locations to attend the Berlin meeting and was our largest financial commitment in this area to date.
The London satellite in 2008 is necessarily a smaller meeting and consequently our budget to support trainees is not as great. Nevertheless, trainee participation in all of our scientific meetings is seen as a vital element to enhance the diversification and scientific content of the meeting as well as encourage these individuals to contemplate further involvement in future NeuPSIG activities. It was expected that all successful bursary recipients would attend the Glasgow World Congress. Membership of both the IASP and NeuPSIG is a prerequisite to be considered for any support.
Trainee Bursary
The Management Committee has elected to provide £300 to encourage trainee attendance at this meeting. The £300 will cover a highly subsidised registration fee of £90 that will be available to all bona fide trainees*, two nights accommodation at the designated University accommodation and some support to enable travel between London and Glasgow (Proof of trainee status must be submitted as part of the registration form along with a Letter of Endorsement from the Head of the Department). (Please note, London residents will receive exempt registration and a contribution towards other expenses). It is essential that applicants for a trainee bursary be a NeuPSIG & IASP member at the time of application. Please note, only those selected to present will be considered for a trainee bursary.
*Please note this can be an undergraduate course, a postgraduate course (including study for a doctoral degree), a postdoctoral research training programme or a clinical fellow training programme (or equivalent i.e. a programme delivering specialist training in a clinical discipline).
