Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research Program Launch - Cognitive Deficits and Mood Disorders in Parkinson's Disease

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (MJFF) announces the launch of Cognitive Deficits and Mood Disorders in Parkinson’s Disease, made possible by generous leadership funding from Merck Serono (EMD Serono in North America). In the interest of facilitating development of treatments for the cognitive deficits and behavioral alterations in Parkinson’s disease patients, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) is issuing this Request for Applications (RFA) for investigator-initiated applications designed to promote preclinical and clinical research to understand the biological basis and develop treatments for cognitive deficits and behavioral changes associated with PD. MJFF encourages innovative approaches to improve understanding and development of treatments for cognitive deficits and behavioral symptoms (such as depression, anxiety, impulse control, and psychosis).

**MJFF will hold a conference call on January 22, 2008 from 12:00 to 12:45pm U.S. Eastern Time to clarify and explain the Cognitive Deficits and Mood Disorders in Parkinson’s Disease program and answer applicant questions. To participate in the call, you must RSVP via email to conferencecalls@michaeljfox.org. Participants will receive a reply with call-in details.

Please visit the Foundation’s Web site, www.michaeljfox.org, for access to the RFA and instructions for submitting pre-proposal online. Pre-Proposals are due February 13, 2008, 6:00pm U.S. Eastern Time. For any questions about the program, please email research@michaeljfox.org.
