About Israel

Dear Friend and Colleague,

In the tradition of the previous excellent Postharvest Conferences, we invite you to attend and participate in the 4th International Conference on Postharvest Science, to be held in Jerusalem, Israel from March 26 - 31, 2000.
This meeting will take place in the year 2000, in the most appropriate site, the Holy Land. Israel has an old tradition of hospitality while keeping abreast with the most advanced scientific and agricultural innovations. Although the country is small, the wide variation in climatic conditions from the snow-capped Mt. Hermon to the Judean Desert surrounding the Dead Sea, have enabled the cultivation of crops suitable to temperate, sub-tropical, tropical and arid zones. This has also required the ingenuity of scientists, extension service and farmers alike, who have worked together to gain these achievements. An example is the extensive Postharvest research program, which is based on the need to support agriculture by developing export of fresh produce to markets near and far.
This Conference will renew the opportunity for informal gathering and exchange of ideas on trends in Postharvest Science for the new millennium.
Jerusalem, the ancient and modern capital of Israel, and the holy city of three great religions, will be the conference venue. Today, it is a city with a unique blend of historic vistas, sacred sites, and contemporary architecture. Rich in archaeology and culture, natural beauty and with an ideal Mediterranean climate, Jerusalem is a perfect place to combine science with travel.
Looking forward to welcoming you to Jerusalem in the new millennium for an unforgettable experience.

Yours sincerely,
Professor Ruth Ben-Arie
Convener
