Gartner Report: Israeli Telecom Market Will Provide Many Opportunities in 2007

A new study published by the Gartner Group, a leading provider of research and analysis, on Israel's communications sector predicts that the Israeli market will continue to be energetic and will also provide many opportunities in 2007.

Gartner's analysts William L. Hahn and Ron Cowles said, "The Israeli telecommunications market is very sophisticated and advanced, and presents growth and business opportunities far beyond the country's small size." The analysts further added that the Israeli government has adopted a competitive approach that promises growth and opportunities for new providers to penetrate the market.

WEF: "Israel's Experience and Impressive Success in ICT Is Worthy of Study and Emulation"

A global information technology report, published by the World Economic Forum, highlights the important role of the government in the emergence of Israel as a high-tech power. The report analyzes Israel's relationship between the ICT sector and Israel's overall economy, stating that "Israel's experience and impressive success in this area…is worthy of study and emulation by countries with similar aspirations."

The study reveals how investments in education, immigration, investment incentives and maintenance of a ratio of R&D investment to GDP, higher than that of any other industrialized country, have contributed significantly to Israel's success.

Deutsche Telekom Establishes 1st R&D Site outside Germany – In Israel

Deutsche Telecom signed an agreement to establish the Deutsche Telecom Laboratories at Ben-Gurion University in Be'er Sheva, Israel. This marks the first time the telecom powerhouse has established an R&D site outside of Germany. The company committed to invest $12.1 million over the next two years in the research institute. "There is no question that Israel is one of the best locations in the world for innovation in the areas of IT and communications," Deutsche Telecom CEO Kai-Uwe Ricke said.
