All registered accompanying persons are invited to join the following TWO half day tours departing from the lobby of the JERUSALEM RENAISSANCE Hotel, Jerusalem DIG FOR A DAY AND VISIT TO A KIBBUTZ MONDAY, JUNE 7, 1999 In a fascinating half-day tour, combine two of Israel's
most exciting experiences: a chance to participate in a hands-on archaeological
excavation, and a visit to a kibbutz, the uniquely Israeli communal living settlement. VIEW FROM THE TOP: WALK ON THE JERUSALEM WALLS THURSDAY, JUNE 10, 1999 An exciting view of the Old City of Jerusalem unveils as
you climb to the highest point at the Citadel Museum. This historical fortress, dating
from the time of the Maccabees, now houses the stimulating Museum of the History of
Jerusalem (which we visit for an overview of the Holy City's growth and development). The
steep ascent to the top of the walls leads to the roof of the Kishle, the infamous prison
where leaders of the State of Israel were held in 1948. The route follows the present 16th
century city walls, the Armenian Quarter and the Mount of Zion. The first settlements
outside the walls, dating from the mid-1800's are visible, allowing for an understanding
of modern Jerusalem's urban development. Continue to Gan Tekumah and explore the Nea
Church, built by the famous Byzantine Emperor Justinian. |
