ABOUT THE WORLD SOCIETY FOR PEDIATRIC INFECTIOUS DISEASES

Six leading PID societies in the world including the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society USA (PIDS), the European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases (ESPID), the Asian Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases (ASPID), the Sociedad Latinoamericana de Infectologia Pediatrica (SLIPE), the Australasian Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases and the Paediatric Infectious Diseases Society of Nigeria form the core of the Confederation. National and international societies for PID can be members of the Confederation. Members of the individual societies are automatically members of the WSPID. Applications for membership can be made via the website www.wspid.com.

The WSPID is a non-profit organization, which holds a biennial scientific congress. The World Congress brings PID specialists together and permits them to meet each other and to exchange science and knowledge. This may contribute to improvement in prophylaxis and treatment of infectious diseases of children throughout the world.
