Six leading PID societies in the world (Pediatric Infectious Disease Society, European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases, Asian Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Sociedad Latinoamericana de Infectiologia Pediatrica, Australasian Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Nigeria Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases) form the core of the Confederation. National and international societies for PID can be members of the Confederation. Members of the individual societies are automatically members of the WSPID. Applications for membership can be made via the website www.wspid.com. The WSPID is a non-profit organization, which holds a triennial scientific congress. The World Congress brings PID specialists together and permits them to meet each other and to exchange science and knowledge. This may contribute to improvement in prophylaxis and treatment of infectious diseases of children throughout the world.
